Multifamily Energy Analyst
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) seeks a qualified professional to provide energy analysis for high performance and green multifamily buildings. Work would primarily focus on energy modeling in EQuest/DOE2 and TREAT (Targeted Residential Energy Analysis Tools). Energy modeling would support LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) projects nationally and NYSERDA Multifamily Program projects in New York City. Depending on experience and interest, other opportunities may be available in energy auditing services, building performance diagnostics, and LEED program management. Openings may be available in SWA’s New York or Connecticut offices.

Minimum requirements
Experience or familiarity with modeling software tools (TREAT and EQuest) is highly desirable, but detailed training will be provided. Experience or knowledge of other modeling tools including EnergyPlus is beneficial, but not required. Candidate must have an interest in energy-efficient multi-family building construction, or related fields, and a willingness to learn. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Commercial/Institutional Sustainability Consultant
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) seeks qualified individuals for positions as Senior and Junior level Sustainability Consultants on new construction and major renovation projects nationwide. Applicants will have experience with commercial/institutional buildings building projects. Must possess ability to read and critique construction documents, including materials selections, conventional and “green” construction methods, and MEP system design. Knowledge of LEED rating systems and ASHRAE building performance standards a plus, but training will be provided. Position involves systems & materials research, design review, LEED coordination and credit calculations, green specification development, and authoring green building guidelines, articles and technical papers. Strong writing and verbal communication skills required.

Energy Auditor
SWA seeks a qualified professional to provide building systems assessments and technical studies for commercial and institutional buildings. One opening is available at our Headquarters in Norwalk, CT to complete commercial energy auditing services, energy systems monitoring, and writing detailed reports and specifications. Travel will be required, up to 60%, mostly local to the tri-state area.
Applicant will have 2-4 years experience with construction documents, mechanical and electrical systems, energy modeling, and report writing for commercial and institutional buildings. Good technical and communication skills are required. Knowledge of Combined Heat and Power technologies and energy monitoring systems is a plus, but training will be provided. Residential Field Technician
SWA seeks qualified technicians to provide residential energy services in the state of Connecticut. Immediate openings are available to complete duct leakage diagnostic testing and duct sealing installations with potential expansion to whole-house energy auditing services. Experience with HVAC service, residential heating and cooling systems, energy audits, home inspection, building construction, weatherization, or building science is desirable, but SWA will train the right candidate. Accessibility Compliance Professional
IMMEDIATE CONSIDERATION - An Accessibility Compliance Professional who will plan and conduct unit and site investigations to identify violations of federal accessibility laws, conduct plan reviews, make recommendations for improvements to access, develop remediation standards, prepare and review investigation and plan review reports, review applicable technical texts, journals, websites, case history, and state, federal, and local regulations governing accessibility to determine applicability to project. Candidate will work in a team setting. Up to 80% out-of-state travel may be required. Graduation with a Bachelors degree and professional experience related to architecture, planning, engineering, urban planning, or a closely related field required. Professional experience should include the ability to analyze existing buildings, architectural plans and specifications for building accessibility and usability by persons with disabilities to make recommendations, plan and evaluate the work of consultants and contractors, work cooperatively with individuals, advocacy groups, persons with disabilities, and governmental agencies on accessibility-related issues, and develop and motivate effective work teams to meet goals and objectives to provide customer service in the most effective and efficient manner.

Residential Energy Systems Engineer
SWA is seeking an engineer to assist in improving performance of homes and residential systems through research, design, and field evaluations. The position will focus primarily on renewable energy and mechanical systems in homes, but IEQ, moisture management, reducing and reusing materials, and other aspects of sustainable home construction will also be relevant.
Work will include design, research, modeling, performance testing, monitoring, and product development. Applicant should have a strong technical background with a solid, working knowledge of residential systems. Familiarity with residential HVAC design (Manual J/D), solar systems, energy modeling (REM/Rate, EnergyGauge, DOE-2, etc.), and building science is desired.
