Institutional
The U.S. Green Building Council has created several options for institutional building projects pursuing a green design standard.
LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations is a green building rating system that was designed to guide and distinguish high-performance commercial and institutional projects, with a focus on office buildings. SWA has experience applying these guidelines to institutional projects that include Laboratories, Classrooms, Athletic Facilities and Dormitories.
LEED for Commercial Interiors gives the power to make sustainable choices to tenants and designers, who do not always have control over base building and site operations. SWA has experience assisting institutional projects renovating portions of existing building to achieve LEED CI Certification.
LEED Application Guidelines for Multiple Buildings and Campuses allows for multi-building projects with common site areas several options for achieving LEED Certification that can account for common site issues and then apply towards all projects on that site. This can help guide Master Planning and phased multi-Building capitol projects for institutions.
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. has long established itself as one of the leading practitioners of LEED support for institutional building projects, and has contributed to the successful certification of some of the highest profile buildings in the U.S.
