Making Buildings Better

Steven Winter Associates, Inc. announced this week that it has acquired the assets of DC based firm, Everyday Green, LLC, a building science consulting and verification firm specializing in green building certification programs. As of January 1, Everyday Green’s staff and operational assets are being transitioned to Steven Winter Associates.

“Everyday Green’s mission really mirrored our own to advance the way buildings are designed, constructed, and maintained,” stated Maureen Mahle, Senior Vice President and Director of Sustainable Housing Services for Steven Winter Associates. “Both organizations consistently seek to improve occupant health, safety, and comfort, while minimizing the environmental impact of the built environment.”

Everyday Green’s team in Pennsylvania and Washington, DC will be bolstered by SWA’s local Washington, DC staff. Everyday Green founder Andrea Foss has transitioned to the role of Director of Sustainability for SWA’s Washington, DC office to support the growing sustainability marketplace in the Mid-Atlantic region. “This partnership will allow us to significantly expand our portfolio of service offerings, and our projects will now be backed by Steven Winter Associates’ 120-plus employees and distinguished 43 year track record,” stated Foss.

Everyday Green has provided high-quality green building and energy efficiency services to the residential market in the DC Metro Area and Pennsylvania for over 6 years. The firm’s staff possesses a range of technical expertise bolstered by prominent green building credentials and professional affiliations. The two organizations provide several parallel service offerings; joining them was a strategic initiative to best serve the needs of existing clients, as well as to accommodate the growing sustainability market in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Everyday Green staff will join SWA’s diverse team of engineers, architects and building science experts who have led the way since 1972 in the development of best practices to achieve high performance buildings. We geek out on wall assembly details and enjoy finding solutions for our clients’ building problems. SWA’s team provides services for clients in the commercial, multifamily, and residential markets for both new and existing buildings.

The 120 staff members are equally allocated between commercial/institutional projects and residential projects. Within these teams, roughly half support new construction vs. existing buildings.
