Jeff Heitert is an Accessibility Consulting Director and veteran of the firm. He is certified by the International Code Council as an Accessibility Inspector and Plans Examiner and is a registered Texas Accessibility Specialist. Jeff has specialized expertise in the scoping and technical requirements of regulations and codes requiring accessible design and construction. He routinely conducts drawing reviews of dwelling units, common areas, and sites designed to comply with applicable local, state and federal accessibility regulations. He conducts field inspections from framing through construction closeout; develops inspection reports with remediation plans; leads accessibility training for key players on project teams; and, provides technical assistance and field inspection services through all phases of project development to contractors, architects, developers and construction crews. Jeff routinely reviews specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other documentation to confirm accessibility compliance.
Jeff’s portfolio includes a wide-array of projects featuring ADA and FHA design and construction compliance, as well as building code design and construction compliance for large Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS). He has participated in the production of the Fair Housing Act Best Practices Handbook, A Guide to Design and Construction Compliance in the Multi Housing Resource Program of 2012; and has contributed to the Inclusive Design Guidelines for the New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, 2010 edition.
