To highlight its commitment to sustainability, the Google Store has become one of few global retail projects that have achieved a Platinum certification under the LEED v4/v4.1ID+C rating system.

Project Overview

Google has opened its first ever retail store location in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan to showcase the product and services offerings in Google’s wide portfolio, and how they would work in different home environments. The goal of the space is to encourage discovery and curiosity, and make visitors and customers feel at home. To highlight its commitment to sustainability, the Google Store has become one of few global retail projects that have achieved a Platinum certification under the LEED v4/v4.1ID+C rating system, achieving 86 points. The space is designed for flexibility and adaptabilityallowing for multiple life cycles, evolution, and reduced lifecycle impacts.

SWA’s Accessibility Team worked with the design team to ensure that the accessible design and construction requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the New York City Building Code were met. Accessibility requirements were seamlessly incorporated into the design of the store creating an accessible high tech environment that welcomes everyone.
