SWA’s New Hire Solidifies Commitment to Expand Accessibility Services in Washington DC
MARCH 05, 2014
Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) is pleased to announce the full expansion of its Accessibility Compliance and Consulting Group to the firm’s Washington, DC location. With a strong presence in New York and Connecticut, the SWA Accessibility Group provides practical, solutions-driven consulting services to ensure that projects satisfy the accessible design and construction requirements of federal, state, and local laws and building codes.
To spearhead the expansion of services to Washington DC, SWA has hired Victoria Lanteigne as Senior Accessibility Consultant. “With the rapidly expanding urban development occurring throughout the DC/Metro area, there is an excellent opportunity to address accessible design.” said Victoria. “I am excited to be a part of the SWA Accessibility Group, where I can utilize my years of experience collaborating with developers to ensure accessibility remains a top priority throughout the District and surrounding areas.”
Victoria will focus on facilitating partnerships with builders, developers, architects, federal and local government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other key stakeholders. SWA will now offer fully-expanded services throughout the DC area including tailored accessibility compliance trainings, plan reviews and field inspections, due diligence inspections, litigation consulting, and technical assistance. Victoria will also lead the launch of a new accessibility-focused newsletter slated for its inaugural publication in April 2014 in recognition of National Fair Housing Month.
Prior to joining SWA, Victoria worked with the Multifamily Housing Resource Program (MHRP), a project of the Equal Rights Center (ERC). The MHRP is comprised mainly of leading US multifamily residential developers and addresses issues related to Fair Housing Act-required design and construction compliance in newly constructed multifamily housing. SWA serves as the MHRP’s founding Advisory Member and provides accessibility consulting services to the group.
“Victoria’s commitment to helping industry stakeholders achieve compliance with accessible design and construction requirements makes her a valuable addition to our team. Her appointment signifies SWA’s commitment to expanding Accessibility Services in the DC area.” said Peter Stratton, Senior VP and Director of the Accessibility Compliance and Consulting Group. As a result of the current DC building boom, it became apparent that accessibility staff presence is needed in our DC office and Victoria is the perfect fit,” Peter added.
In addition to significant growth in New York City and DC, SWA’s Accessibility Compliance and Consulting Group is also working on projects in Texas and California and continues to expand business in other markets throughout the U.S.
