Harold Bravo, an Accessibility Consulting Director, joined SWA in 2001. He oversees a residential team that provides technical assistance, plan reviews and field inspections across the country for compliance with federal, state, and local agency and building code requirements for accessible design and construction.
Harold is an International Code Council-certified Accessibility Inspector and Plans Examiner and a California Certified Accessibility Specialist (CASp). He was invited by the ICC to participate on a committee convened to develop the ICC Accessibility Inspector and Plans Examiners exam and the revisions to the ICC/A117.1 Technical Standard. He was also invited by the New York City Department of Buildings and the New York City Mayors Office for People with Disabilities to serve on the committee convened to revise the accessibility criteria of the 2008 and 2014 versions of the New York City Building Code. Harold is also a member or the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) #314 on Aging Societies for the International Standards Organization (ISO).
In addition to these achievements, Harold has also participated in the production of multiple publications including: Fair Housing Act Best Practices Handbook, A Guide to Design and Construction Compliance; Multi Housing Resource Program, 2012; 10 Ways an Architect Can Become Age-Friendly, AIA New York DFA Committee, 2012; Aging in Place Guide for Multifamily Owners and Developers, New York City Department for the Aging, 2016; and DDC Guiding Principles, New York City Department of Design, 2016.
