Project Background:
Agora is a new, luxury apartment building located in Washington, D.C. The project features studio, one, two, and three bedroom apartments in a variety of contemporary floor plans. A unique amenity package includes a demonstration kitchen for visiting chefs, a rooftop pool, a virtual driving range, and a fitness center with a yoga studio and bicycle spinning room. Additionally, the ground floor retail space features a Whole Foods Market, offering residents and the community a much needed walkable resource.
Project Services:
Steven Winter Associates provided sustainability consulting services for the project, which earned LEED for New Construction v2009 Silver Certification.
Green Building Features:
- Green roof and drought tolerant courtyard landscaping, which will reduce the heat island effect and have a longer life than a traditional applied roof.
- Central domestic gas fired water heaters serve the individual units and amenity areas to help the project achieve a significant reduction in domestic heating energy use and hot water energy cost.
- High efficiency plumbing fixtures and ENERGY STAR® appliances will enable the project to achieve a 30% percent reduction in potable water use.
